See it in motion

Painted world, real tactics

The Wandering Blade is a text-driven RPG — you read and choose your way through a living, AI-run world. Hand-painted art marks the moments that matter: your hero, pivotal scenes, fearsome bosses, and the loot you earn — not every line.

🟢 Green-flame cults and the gods that wake beneath the fen.
🔥 Dune-seas of fire and cities that burn beneath the sand.
❄️ A killing winter, frost-wolves, and the walking dead.
⚔️ Every fight is a puzzle — outthink it, and the legend is yours.

What’s under the hood →

The home base

Every game begins at The Wandering Blade

Its keeper is Trent “The Wandering Blade” Steele — who earned that name young, walking every road in the Marches with a sword for hire. Then he stood in front of an ancient red dragon and refused to move, and the wandering stopped. Now he pours the ale, keeps Coldcrown and Neverfall behind the bar, and points you at the job board.

Questions

Before you draw steel

Do I need to know Dungeons & Dragons?+
Not at all. Tap a choice and the game rolls the dice and applies the rules for you. If you've never touched a tabletop RPG, you'll be fine in the first minute.
Is it really free?+
Yes — all twelve scripted campaigns and all twenty classes are free forever, plus 20 free AI turns every day to try the living dungeon master. You only pay if you want the endless AI-run open road.
Can I play on my phone?+
Absolutely. It's built mobile-first, runs in your browser, and you can pause and pick up any time on any device.
What's the difference between the campaigns and the “open” mode?+
The campaigns are hand-crafted, hand-tuned stories. The open campaign is an endless, AI-run adventure that goes wherever you point it — that's the part a subscription unlocks.
Why can't I see enemy health bars?+
By design — a real fight doesn't hang a health bar over the enemy's head. Spend a moment to size up a foe (how hurt it looks) or study it (a weakness to exploit), and that read becomes your edge.
What is Platinum?+
A premium currency you can buy to fuel more AI adventures, grab speed-boosts and wondrous caches, unlock cosmetics, or forge a fully custom character or campaign. It's optional — everything that affects power is earned in play.
Is my character permanent?+
Death means something here — but you keep up to three checkpoints, so a fallen hero can load their last stand rather than vanish forever. You choose how brutal it gets.
Your table is set

Roll a hero, take a job at the Blade, and see how far your story runs. The first adventure is on the house.
